Drawing on more than 10 years of political experience, Bill McCarthy advises democracy activists from throughout the Middle East on communications strategy and political issues. In 2005, he served as a senior advisor to Ahad al-Iraq, the first nationwide issue-based campaign in Iraq, which secured the support of 125 political leaders and more than 150 grassroots organizations for a legislative platform to secure human rights and political freedoms.

From 1999 to 2000, Bill was deputy director of communications for the Republican National Committee and has worked on and advised numerous national campaigns. He has also served as a speech writer to a cabinet secretary, a press secretary to a committee of the U.S. House of Representatives, and has worked in the private sector in business strategy and marketing. Bill received an MBA from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania and a B.A. in English Literature from the University of Chicago.
