Ammar Al Shahbander

Ammar al-Shahabandar is a London-based Iraqi national with extensive project management experience in the Arab world. In 2003 Ammar served as a program manager in Baghdad for the Iraq Foundation where he established the foundation's operations and provided logistics support for numerous training conferences with emerging Iraqi civil society. As the Iraq country director for the Institute for War and Peace Reporting in 2004-2005, Ammar was responsible for all the program operations in Iraq including recruitment, finance and administration, and monitoring and evaluation. Ammar has worked on the Ahad-al-Iraq Pledge Campaign, for which he oversaw the development of the campaign's Arabic-language website (www.ahdaliraq.net) and produced a dozen radio talk shows. Ammar has a B.A. in Sociology from the University of Westminster, London, and information technology experience in academia and the private sector. He is fluent in Arabic, English, Farsi and Swedish.
