Zagros Ahmed previously worked as a case manager for Advocates for Survivors of Torture and Trauma (ASTT), in Washington, D.C. where she helped victims of torture and trauma from the Middle East and Africa. In her native country, Iraq, she worked as a program director of Kurdistan Save the Children, where she created and ran a program for street children in Sulaimaniya in coordination with the UNICEF and Department of Education. Zagros also managed three orphanages in northern Iraq and supervised a refugee camp in Sulaimaniya. Zagros holds a Bachelor in Sociology and Anthropology from the University of Baghdad. She is fluent in Arabic, English, and Kurdish.
